In 2008, people from across the community of Peasedown St John, near Bath, were involved in a large scale community art project led by me. They made over fifty mosaic pigeons that were placed around the village on the facades of houses and businesses.
I made two murals of large figures releasing the birds.
The work is still in good condition several years on.
The project was an acknowledgement of Peasedown's position at the centre of the former Somerset coalfield. There has been a long association between coal mining and racing pigeons.
